The Ghana Education Service (GES) has postponed reopening of schools for senior high school third-year students to 5 May 2021.
This follows a proposal by the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) for a review of the academic calendar. Schools were originally scheduled to reopen today, 6 April.
The adjustment is intended to give the students an uninterrupted period of instruction until they write their final examinations.
A GES statement said the new arrangement applies to all Form 3 students in both the single- and double-track system.
Proposal by CHASS
“Management has considered a proposal from CHASS and has therefore revised the academic calendar as follows:
“Reopening for Form 3 students has been rescheduled for 5 May 2021. This applies to all Form 3 students (single-track and double-track schools),” the statement said. “Further details will be announced. All other arrangements on the calendar remain unchanged.”
Schools were scheduled to reopen on 30 June until the end of the testing period for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
