Ghana places second in international dance competition

Australia won the competition with a few points ahead of Ghana which came second after the end of the games

Ghana has placed second in the grand finale of the 2022 FUSE Cup Global Just Dance International gaming competition exclusively designed for girl gamers across the globe.

Afaus Lovely School in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region represented the African continent in the electronic gaming competition which saw Australia, Asia, Africa, and Europe compete for the championship title and bragging rights as the best dancing team among the five competing continents.

Australia won the competition with a few points ahead of Ghana which came second after the end of the games.

Amankwaa-Frempong, the Ashanti regional representative for Esports Africa the organising partner for the competition in Africa explained that The FUSE Cup is an international network of schools connected to provide young students with an opportunity to participate in a safe, supportive and structured national e-sports competition while developing positive gaming behaviours and digital wellbeing.

According to him, E-sports Africa partnered with Fuse Cup International in order to help “inculcate E-sports in the Ghanaian children’s society to make sure people understand that gaming has changed, and there’s a lot more gaming can offer to the community than what we have perceived it to be.”

The head teacher of Afaus Lovely School, Samuel Akwaboah, who expressed excitement for the school’s performance stated that the introduction of Esports in the Ghanaian school curriculum will help pupils hence authorities in the education sector should consider introducing it into extra-curricular activities.

“I encourage and also plead with authorities to help set eyes on the Esports activities, because it is helping the students by increasing their confidence, especially the girl child.”

The contestants also speaking to Asaase News said although they were disappointed that they could not win the competition, they were glad they won the first runner-up position for the country.
