You’re master of corruption not Akufo-Addo, Naabu tells Mahama

Bugri Naabu, a former Northern regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says John Mahama has no moral right to describe Akufo-Addo as corrupt

Former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu, has lashed out at the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, for labelling President Akufo-Addo as corrupt.

“If it’s John Mahama, the NDC flagbearer, who is saying that Nana Akufo-Addo is a corrupt person, has he forgotten he wanted to corrupt me? Telling me to take not a car but cars and cash which I felt it was not good for me to keep as a regional chairman, so I had to let the whole Ghana know,” Naabu told Asaase News’ Nana Oye Ankrah.

He accused Mahama of inducing people with gifts for votes, especially during the 2016 elections.

“He showed the car and the money to me and I refused it so he is the one who is the master of corruption. After all, has he forgotten during his time, he was dashing V8 [and] tractors to chiefs and opinion leaders to vote for him? Who is corrupt more than him?” Naabu emphasised.

In 2016, Naabu alleged that then President Mahama and his brother, Ibrahim Mahama, attempted to bribe him with GHC3.3 million, two SUVs among other offers in exchange for his resignation from NPP to declare his support for the NDC.

We’re winning the North

Naabu was optimistic the governing NPP will improve on its performance in the Northern regions due to its remarkable achievements over the past four years.

“When you do a good job, people will appreciate it and others who even didn’t vote for you will vote for you. The party has done very well and so it will win more seats as a reward for the President for a good work done,” he stated.
