Yagbonwura makes historic visit to Ya Naa to deepen ties

The visit between the two kings is slated for this Sunday (23 June) and is expected to spark some euphoria in the region

A visit by the Gonja King Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I to the Dagbon King Ya Naa Mahama Abukari II will deepen existing cordial relationship and peaceful coexistence between the two kingdoms, Alhassan Abdul Fatawu, registrar to Ya Naa has said.

The visit between the two kings is is slated for this Sunday (23 June 2024) and is expected to spark some euphoria in the region.

Speaking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Friday (21 June), Fatawu said the two kingdoms have always existed peacefully.

“Gonjas and Dagomba’s are brothers, you remember when there was flooding in some part of Buipe , the king of Dagbon and chiefs came together and donated food items to the flood victims at Buipe.”

“This is to tell you how close we are with the people of Gonja. So, this visit by the Yagbonwura once again is to enhance that cordial relationship and peaceful co-existence that has been existing between the two kingdoms,” he said.
