She further revealed that Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is expected to outline key details of the initiative in an upcoming budget statement, which will also introduce additional policies aimed at supporting women-led businesses.

The John Mahama administration has reaffirmed its commitment to economic empowerment for women, assuring that the proposed Women’s Development Bank is on course to provide financial support for female entrepreneurs across Ghana.

Speaking on International Women’s Day 2025, the Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration) Nana Oye Bampoe Addo reiterated the government’s dedication to ensuring women have access to resources needed to expand their businesses and contribute meaningfully to national development.

“The NDC government, led by His Excellency John Mahama, has committed to the Women’s Bank, a special vehicle that ensures women can procure the financial resources to develop their businesses. It is on course, and I am sure on Tuesday you will hear what we have in store for women in Ghana,” she assured.

She further revealed that Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is expected to outline key details of the initiative in an upcoming budget statement, which will also introduce additional policies aimed at supporting women-led businesses.

Beyond financial empowerment, she reiterated the government’s commitment to gender equality through the Affirmative Action (Gender Equity) Act of 2024, which seeks to ensure 30% female representation in leadership positions across all sectors.

“We are committed to ensuring that women have a seat at the table. Just as we have delivered the historic appointment of the first-ever female Vice President, Her Excellency Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, we will continue to uplift and empower the women of Ghana,” she stated.

She also acknowledged the contributions of Ghanaian women in various fields, promising that the government will continue to implement policies that promote their welfare and economic inclusion.

“Women of Ghana, we of this government value and treasure your contribution to the development of Ghana. We salute and celebrate you on International Women’s Day,” she added.
