Woman arrested for dumping twins in a well

Eyewitnesses told Asaase News that they found Ellisa Zumeseh's babies floating in the well near her residence on Monday and quickly alerted the police

The police have arrested a 20-year-old woman in Abetifi Zongo in the Sunyani municipality of the Bono Region for allegedly dumping her three months old male twins in a well.

Eyewitnesses told Asaase News that they found Ellisa Zumeseh’s babies floating in the well near her residence on Monday (23 May) and quickly alerted locals and the police, but it was too late to rescue them alive.

The local spokesperson of the Bono police command ASP Augustine Kingsley Oppong told Asaase News the twins were pronounced dead at the Bono regional hospital.

He said the mother has been detained to assist in investigations into the case.

“Investigations have started which means autopsy will be done on the children by the pathologist,” ASP Oppong said. “This will enable us to start prosecution in the court and the woman also has been arrested.”
