NPP primaries: One person arrested in Yendi

One person has been arrested by the police in Yendi in connection with electoral violence in the just ended New Patriotic primaries, an official statement has said.

The police is currently on a manhunt for others in connection with the violence.

The persons are suspected of damaging electoral materials during the sorting of ballots in the internal parliamentary elections of the New Patriotic Party.

A statement issued by the police on Saturday (27 January) said “The police worked together with the military, in line with our established protocols, to restore law, order and security in the area. No persons were injured during the disturbances.”

“We wish to assure the public that all persons behind this unfortunate act shall be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” the police statement added.
