One person has died and another severely injured in Yama in the West Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region after armed robbers attacked a mobile money vendor on Wednesday (24 November 2021).
The armed robbers bolted with an unspecified amount of money from Seidu Buhari, a mobile money vendor.
The deceased, identified as Naamasim Imoro who is believed to have been in his 40’s was shot dead and another woman was also injured in the process.
Recounting his ordeal to Asaase News, Buhari said, he heard gunshots at about 8.pm on Wednesday (24 November) and decided to go out to check what was happening outside only to meet the robbers.
“I run away and left my workers. We do mobile money and sell mobile phones; they collected all the phones on display and took the money. I don’t know exactly how much,’’ he added
A few months ago, another mobile money vendor was robbed at gunpoint at Nasia near Walewale.
Residents in and around the neighbourhood are living in fear as a result of growing insecurity.
