Wenchi: Fire razes apartment at Tromeso

The blaze, which occurred late Sunday night 8 June 2025, consumed all belongings in the apartment, leaving the occupant with nothing but the clothes on his back

A devastating fire has completely destroyed a chamber and hall apartment in Tromeso, a farming community in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region.

The blaze, which occurred late Sunday night 8 June 2025, consumed all belongings in the apartment, leaving the occupant with nothing but the clothes on his back.

Items destroyed in the fire include a deep freezer, three laptops, a television set, mattresses, cooking utensils, and a cash amount of GHC7,200. The total value of the damage is estimated to run into thousands of Ghana cedis.

No injuries or fatalities were reported.

Victim Left Devastated

The victim, Emmanuel Agyapong, a teacher at Tromeso Roman Catholic Basic School and an elder at the SDA Church, said he was away when the incident happened.

“By the time I got there, everything was gone. My teaching materials, my electronics, money, among other things. It’s all gone,” he said in an emotional interview.

“This is a huge setback. I don’t even know where to start,” he added.

Cause of Fire Unknown

The cause of the fire is yet to be established. Neighbours who witnessed the incident said they saw thick smoke and flames but were unable to contain the fire due to its intensity and lack of immediate access to firefighting equipment.

Local authorities have been informed, and investigations are expected to commence in the coming days.

Call for Support

Community members are appealing for support for Agyapong, describing him as a dedicated teacher and active community leader.
