I regret casting social media influencers for my movies, says Yvonne Nelson

Ghanaian film producer Yvonne Nelson has said she regrets casting social media influencers for her movies

Ghanaian actress and film producer Yvonne Nelson has revealed that she regrets casting social media influencers for her movies.

Speaking on the Between Hours show with Naa Ashorkor, on Thursday (2 February), Yvonne Nelson said, “I started a project in December with six social media influencers, because I just wanted to fall back and give them a chance. They came on the set and it was like a reality show.”

“The games and playing and unseriousness were too much. They were usually late, or they didn’t have their lines.”

She added that she had to scrap that project and reshoot, “I had to bring new casts, so December was a depressing time for me because I was rewriting the script.”

“It even ended up in a police station because they were misbehaving too much. So I don’t know if I’m ever going to cast full social media influencers anymore.”

According to her, social media turn trends fade as new innovations evolve hence influencers should venture into the film business to build their craft.

“I feel like they just follow the attention, they forget that some trends will die down, some things will come and go.”

“But I will give roles to people who really want it. I was looking at them because they were famous. I felt they were talented and had a lot of media buzz around them.”
