“We are here”: Asaase Radio celebrates first anniversary, opens Kumasi station today

ABC Ltd, which began operating on 14 June 2020, has under its umbrella Asaase Radio Accra (99.5), Asaase Radio Kumasi (98.5) and Radio 123 Tamale (99.7), and is still growing.

Asaase Radio 99.5, the pan-African multimedia station, has begun activities to mark its first anniversary a year after capturing the media landscape in the capital, Accra.

Asaase Broadcasting Company (ABC) Ltd, the mother company of Asaase Radio 99.5 FM, began operation on 14 June 2020. It has since expanded its reach to Kumasi with Asaase Radio Kumasi (98.5) and Radio 123 in Tamale (99.7), and is still growing.

As part of the anniversary, Asaase will raise roughly US$40,000 for the purchase of a dialysis machine to be donated to a health facility in the country.

A year ago, Elizabeth Akua Ohene, also a shareholder and board member, held a 20-minute in-house training session with the news crew on media ethics.

Reginald Daniel Laryea, the renowned advertising consultant who is also a shareholder and board member, also held a session with the sales and marketing team on the importance of marketing to build the brand and drive sales.

Asaase’s board chairman and senior partner of the corporate law firm Africa Legal Associates, Gabby Otchere-Darko, told the staff that there are great expectations resting on their young shoulders.

The competition out there may be stiff, but they can surely excel, he said. “Just let the quality of your content speak.” he urged staff.
