We are considering how to support leapfrogging of Africa over the next 50 years, says BADEA boss

The BADEA president says the institution will use the launch of its golden jubilee celebrations in Accra to highlight the bank’s achievements

The president of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), Sidi Ould Tah, has said the bank is considering how to support the leapfrogging of the African continent in the next 50 years.

Dr Ould Tah was speaking at a press briefing on Thursday (18 July 2024) to launch the start of 50th-anniversary celebrations for BADEA, to take place in Accra on Sunday (21 July).

“We believe that this will be a game-changer in terms of resource mobilisation in the interest of the continent , but also in developing direct investment to support the development of the continent,” he said.

“We will be organising this event on 21 July and we intend to use this opportunity to shed light on what has been achieved by the Bank,” Dr Ould Tah said.

“And, more importantly, we are considering how to support the leapfrogging of Africa in the next 50 years,” he said.
