The West Mamprusi Municipal Environmental Officer, Anchaba Faustinus, has urged the management of the Walewale Government Hospital to construct a wall around the hospital premises to prevent residents from using the land as a dumpsite.
Faustinus’s call comes after a recent joint operation between the assembly and Zoomlion, a waste management company, successfully cleared the long-standing dumpsite that had become a health hazard for nearby residents.
The hospital management had repeatedly complained to the assembly about the dumpsite, which had become an eyesore and a source of concern for the hospital community.
Faustinus said he is happy that the dumpsite has finally been evacuated.
“Today, I am happy the Honourable Municipal Chief Executive, Honorable Mohammed Rabiu Jabaah was able to communicate with the municipal zoomlion manager and the regional zoomlion manager, even to the entend of the National for them to come and do the evacuation,” Faustinus said.
In an interview with Asaase after the dumpsite was cleared, Faustinus underlined the need for the hospital management to take proactive measures to protect the hospital land from future dumping, stressing that the best solution to make the place tidy is to construct a Perimeter wall.
“The only solution to solve the problem is for the hospital to wall the place. If not a wall that will solve the problem, there is no way that people will stop dumping here,” he appealed
“I can bet you. The only way that can stop the people from dumping here is to wall the land. If the land is not walled, there is no way that you can stop people from dumping hete,” he added.
The hospital and the residents living around that area can breathe a sigh of relief as this major Dumpsite is cleared.
