WAFCON Qualifers: Doris Boaduwaa powers Black Queens to first leg win over Namibia

Doris Boaduwaa scored a brace as the Black Queens  claimed a first advantage against Namibia in their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday.

The Spartak Subotica forward scored in both halves at the Accra Sports Stadium to seal a 10th successive win for Nora Huaptile’s side.

Doris opened the scoring in the 26th minute after tapping a low cross into an empty net.

Portia Boakye was also on the score sheet in the 3-1 win but scored an own goal to give Namibia a life lifeline for the second leg on Tuesday.

“Of course, we should have scored more. But in the end, we didn’t.

“We didn’t get card until now, so we scored all the goals ourselves.”

“I’m satisfied. Now we enjoy this moment.”

“Then from tomorrow, we have a long travel, we calm down and we focus on the Tuesday game.” – Head coach Nora Hauptile said after the game.

Nora Hauptile’s side will need to avoid a defeat in the second leg to reach the WAFCON finals in Morocco next year after missing the last two editions.
