The constituency secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Awutu Senya East, Michael Addy, has said calm has returned to the area following the stabbing of one person.

Reports suggest the incident occurred after a disagreement regarding the queuing of voters seeking to transfer their votes to the constituency.

The violence occurred around 5am on Monday (3 June) and involved members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Ato Koomson who was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital is currently responding to treatment.

Speaking to Benjamin Offei-Addo Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Monday (3 June), Michael Addy said security had been beefed up at the venue.

“After the incident, police presence is currently being experienced at the registration centre because yesterday evening the director of operation at the police headquarters also came to admonish us to live in harmony with one another.”

“So as we speak currently, I think that’s so far so good the police arrangement at the registration centre is on point,” Addy said.
