Vote massively for Bawumia – President of Ahafo House of Chiefs to Ghanaians

Nana Ansah Adu Baah, President of the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia during the event

The President of the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs Nana Ansah Adu Baah has made a passionate appeal to all voters in Ghana to vote massively for the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and serving Vice President of the Republic, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on 7 December 2024 during the general elections.

Addressing the Vice President and his campaign team in the Ahafo Region on Tuesday, 7 May 2024, when they paid a courtesy call of the Chiefs as part of the second phase of his “Bold Solutions Campaign Tour,” Nana Ansah Adu Baah said Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is a symbol of peace and he has the development of the nation at heart.

“We, the people of Ghana, have chosen the path of peace and not confusion. As we head to the polls in December, God wants peace to prevail, and we, the Chiefs and elders of Ghana, also want peace.

“Whatever we can for peace to prevail, that is exactly what we will do. In that peaceful atmosphere, we will use the same to fully support the candidature of our brother, son, nephew, and all in all, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Nana Ansah Adu Baah said.

“The people of the Ahafo Region have decided in their hearts to vote for Dr. Bawumia already. What is left is for the day of voting to come for us to cast our vote. Just as Dr Mahamudu Bawumia represents peace and tranquility, we do not want any confusion before, during, and after the election.

“Let us go out there on election day and vote “boom, boom, boom” for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. That is all we want, and nothing can change my mind. We want truthfulness. We want a president who will champion a peaceful nation, and we want a trustworthy president,” Nana Ansah Adu Baah further remarked.

Review of the Chieftaincy Act

Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, in his address to the chiefs, advocated for the review of the Chieftaincy Act to involve chiefs in the governance system of Ghana. According to Dr Bawumia, it is wrong for Chiefs to be sidelined in the governance structure of the country, and that it is time to review that arrangement that has persisted since the country gained independence from colonial rule.

“The major policy I want to bring is that if you look at the trend since Independence, it looks as if Nananom has been sidelined in the governance of the country, and it is a problem. So I want us to review section 63 (d) of the Chieftaincy Act to give more powers to the Chiefs so that Chiefs can help the government in the governance of the country. Even managing your areas becomes difficult without the powers. So we will change the law to give you more powers,” the NPP 2024 presidential candidate said.

Allowance to Chiefs

Dr Bawumia also indicated that his government, if elected, will pay allowances to Chiefs. He noted that his manifesto committee will come out with a policy for Chiefs to be paid an allowance they can live on to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.

“The Manifesto Committee is coming with a recommendation that will soon be unveiled. We will pay the chiefs’ living allowances they can live on because we want you to have the resources that you can work” Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said.
