The national organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammi Awuku, has appealed to the people of Mion and Tamale Central in the Northern Region to endorse President Nana Akufo-Addo’s bid for four more years in office, and to vote for him on 7 December 2020 to pursue his agenda, which aims to change Ghana’s status to that of an industrialised economy.
The affable politician told residents of Mion and Tamale Central that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its candidate cannot in any way compare to the record of the Akufo-Addo government over the past three years and ten months. The enviable record of President Akufo-Addo, he said, should inform their choice on 7 December.
NDC failure
In his typically engaging style, Awuku told the audience at a mini-rally in Tamale that his party’s main opponent, the NDC, does not keep its promises to the people and that it failed woefully when it had the opportunity to exercise executive authority in Ghana, particularly between January 2009 and 7 January 2017.
Together with the party’s parliamentary candidate for Mion, Musah Abdul Azziz Ayaba; the chief executive officer of the National Buffer Stock Company, Alhaji Abdul Hannan; the NPP regional secretary, Alhaji Sibidow; the Northern Region organiser for the NPP, Alhaji Rasheed C O P Salifu; and Abdul Gana, NPP regional youth organiser, Awuku took turns to engage several communities, chiefs and opinion leaders in Mion. They discussed grass-roots development projects and interventions embarked upon by the Akufo-Addo government.
The NPP national organiser is also expected to meet residents of Gushegu, Tolon, Tamale North and Karaga during his tour of the Northern Region.
