Volta Region: Stanbic Bank donates GHC80,000 to Asogli State

The bank presented a cheque for GHC30,000 to aid the festival and an additional GHC50,000 for the Asogli Education Fund

The management of Stanbic Bank, Ghana, has donated a sum of GHC80,000 to the Asogli State in Ho in the Volta Region.

It is aimed at supporting the 2023 yam festival and the 20th anniversary celebrations of the overlord of Asogli, Togbe Afede XIV.

The Ho and Accra branches of the bank, led by Mawuko Afadzanu, director of corporate communications and marketing, made the donation on Saturday (2 September).

The manager of communications at the bank, Kodjo Larbi, said the rationale behind the donation was to promote tourism.

The bank presented a cheque for GHC30,000 to support the festival and an additional GHC50,000 for the Asogli Education Fund.

He said the GHC50,000 education fund is part of the bank’s efforts to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in the country.

“In the last three years we’ve donated 500 computers to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and last year we gave the University of Ghana 75 computers, all with the idea of providing the equipment or tools” for the replication of STEM, added Larbi.

Togbe Afede XIV thanked the bank and said the donation will aid in the development of the area as the festival this year will be used to create awareness about climate change, promote tourism among others.
