Volta Region: Man beheads 12-year-old boy for alleged money ritual

The 25-year-old suspect was arrested at the residence of a prophetess with the severed head of young Kofi Kuzagbe, allegedly removed for a ritual

The police have arrested a man and a prophetess for allegedly beheading a 12-year-old boy for a money ritual in Mafi Aflokofe, an island community in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region.

According to eyewitnesses, Kofi Kuzagbe was last seen in the company of the main suspect, Dovi Tsidi, on Sunday 29 August 2021, heading to the island.

A search team was deployed hours after the boy was reported missing, the police said.

Speaking to Asaase News, the assemblyman for the area, Moses Awukuvi, said the headless body of Kuzagbe was later found on the banks of a lake, prompting local people to hunt for the suspect.

The police announced that Tsidi was later arrested at the residence of a prophetess with the severed head of Kuzagbe. It is believed the head was removed for a ritual.

The two are currently behind bars at Aveyime Police Station pending an investigation.

The residents of the island community in the Volta Region say they are still in shock over the incident.
