A serious fire outbreak on Friday (10th January 2025), has condemned three shops in Ho-Ahoe around the melcom to stadium road in the regional capital of the Volta region.
The fire outbreak completely burnt down three shops.
During a visit to the scene, an eyewitness told Asaase News that the swift response and intervention by the Ghana National Fire Service prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent shops and houses in the area.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire was caused by a domestic incident in a nearby wooden kitchen, where someone left food on a coal fire and left the kitchen.
The kitchen also had stored local gin (akpeteshie), which may have contributed to the spread of the fire.
The incident, which caused a temporary halt in vehicular traffic along the stretch, left the affected business owners hopeless as they watched helplessly their investments, worth thousands of Ghana Cedis, burn to ashes.
Meanwhile, the affected victims are appealing to the government and other authorities to come to their aid to bounce back to business.
ADO1 Isaac Gliku of the Ghana National Fire Service said they have commenced an investigation into the cause of the fire.
