West Mamprusi: Two children die as fire destroys rice farm in Nasia

A search team from the community and the police found the children who had been burnt beyond recognition.

Two children have been burnt to death as fire destroys a rice farm in Nasia in the West Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region on Wednesday (24 November 2021).

Osman Hafisu, 15, and Osman Faisal, six, had gone to farm with their father (Osman) on a motorbike to check their maize farm but a raging fire on a neighbour’s farm swept through other farms in the area.

Osman then asked the children to wait for him at a point whiles he tried with the support of other farmers to put out the raging fire only to return to meet their absence.

A search team comprising the police and some residents later found the burnt bodies of the two children on the rice farm.

They have since been buried.
