Physioshop Production Centre donates medical equipment to health centre

The move forms part of efforts by the PPC to support the health centre to give quality health care services to residents of the area

Medical equipment manufacturing company, Physioshop Production Centre (PPC) has donated hospital equipment and other consumables to the Pungu-Wusungu Health Centre in the Kassena-Nankana municipality.

The donation forms part of efforts by the PPC to support the health centre to give quality health care services to residents.

The items included; a delivery bed, haemoglobin strips, glucometers and glucometer strips, PPC scrubs and scrub boots.

The others were PPC hand sanitisers, PPC liquid soap and PPC methylated spirit and PPC plastic chairs.

Zimmowura Seidu, the chief executive officer of the Physioshop Production Centre (PPC), at a brief presentation ceremony said the donation was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

He said an outlet of the PPC established in Paga had identified the challenges facing the Pungu-Wusungu health centre, prompting the company to throw in support from their own manufactured stock.

Zimmowura was hopeful the donation would support the facility to operate effectively and deliver health care to residents of Pungu-Wusungu and neighbouring communities.

Adiachwe Kuu-Naa II, the chief of Pungu-Wusungu, through whom the items were passed to the staff, thanked the PPC for the intervention.

He spoke about the importance of a robust healthcare delivery system in the municipality.

Kuu-Naa enumerated a number of challenges at the facility such as the lack of beds, staff accommodation and spacious offices, equipment and a mediacal ward for the detainment of pregnant women,

He said the dire situation was a worrying one. He, therefore, appealed to authorities to tackle the challenges as quickly as possible.

He also charged the staff to desist from destructive behaviours and continuously give off their best as the government works to provide the health centre with resources.

“I want to caution you to put these items to proper use. There are so many clinics in Pungu but you’re lucky to be receiving these things. So, I hope and pray that you put them to good use.” – Kuu Naa urged good use of items.

Judicious use of items

For her part, the in-charge of the clinic, Lydia Addi, noted the how greatly the donation would assist them as far as giving good healthcare to the residents was concerned.

She said prior to the donation, the health centre could not boast of basic equipment such as the delivery beds and BP apparatus. She said pregnant women are delivered on the couch as there are no beds at the facility.

Addi also said the lack of equipment at the facility also affected the number of clients, staff are able to treat daily. She was hopeful services would see an improvement with the additional equipment received.

She assured the PPC, the chief and people of the judicious use of the items to maximize productivity and appealed to other corporate entities to come to their support.
