The Biakoye District Assembly has launched the Senior High Schools Farm Project at Bowiri Kwamekrom aimed at equipping young farmers with skills and knowledge they need to make a difference in the agricultural sector.
“Today’s event is a testament to my commitment to innovative thinking and, more importantly, our dedication to instilling in our youth a passion for agriculture, food sufficiency, and income generation for our schools,” the DCE of the area Millicent Kabuki Carboo said at the event.
“As we all know, agriculture is the backbone of Ghana’s economy, and involving our youth in this vital sector is essential for our nation’s future.”
“I am thrilled to announce that in addition to the necessary tools such as cutlasses, Wellington boots, fall army worm chemicals, weedicide, and funds for ploughing the four-acre land, the students will also receive training in robotic technologies. This technology will revolutionise the way we farm and enhance the productivity of our agricultural endeavours,” she added.
Carboo gave assurance to the farmers that her outfit is committed to provide seedlings and fertilizers to further support their agricultural activities.
She therefore called on all residents to take a moment to envision the impact of this initiative on their community by fostering an interest in agriculture among the youth. This, she said, is an opportunity to pave the way for a more prosperous and self-sufficient future.
“Together, let us nurture this project and empower our students to be the change-makers in our agricultural landscape.
“May this endeavor serve as an inspiration for other districts to invest in the agricultural education of our youth. Let us work hand in hand to achieve food security and economic prosperity for our beloved nation, Ghana,” said.
The chiefs and residents of Biakoye district have welcomed the vision and pledged their support to ensure the project benefits the next generation.
