Supreme Court orders EC to stop running ads on District Assembly Elections

The Supreme Court has ordered the Electoral Commission to stop running advertisements on the March 3rd District Assembly Elections.

Joy News reporter Kwakye Afreh Nuamah was in court and reports that the judges said it was inappropriate for the EC to be running advertisements of the elections when the Court was yet to make a ruling on it.

They have therefore asked the EC to withdraw all advertisement on the elections and allow the court to make a ruling on it.

A disqualified aspirant Benjamin Eyi Mensah has dragged the Commission to court for failing to include him in the impending elections.

The court has however set tomorrow February 27, 2015 to rule on the suit challenging the constitutionality of the polls.

Lawyer for the EC, Quarshie Idan has agreed to the ruling and said he will ensure that all advertisements about the elections on Radio, TV and other media platforms cease immediately.
