VIDEO: New mothers sleep on benches at Amasaman Government Hospital

Asaase News reports that dozens of new mothers at the Amasaman Government Hospital are forced to sleep on benches after giving birth due to a lack of space

A number of expectant mothers and new mothers receiving care at the maternity ward of the Amasaman Government Hospital have voiced their displeasure with the “No bed syndrome” in the facility.

Some of the affected victims, who were spotted by Asaase News, expressed their profound sorrow at being forced to sleep on benches despite having undergone a C-Section.

Mothers who are expected to stay a bit longer at the Amasaman Government Hospital in Accra after birth seem to be going through another pain—not of delivery but of where to lay their heads while their babies remain elsewhere.

They appealed to the authorities of the facility to improve the situation in the maternity ward, as it poses a health threat to mothers and their newborn babies.
