President of Law Students: GLC is trying to micro-manage our numbers

Hassan Asare has stated that the undertaken signed by the students which did not state the pass mark for the exam and also barred them from seeking a remark has affected the transparency of the exam

The president of the Law Students Association, Hassan Asare has described the Ghana School of law entrance examination as a selection process and not an exam.

Over 2,000 students will sit for the entrance examination for admission to the professional law course this year. However, unlike in previous exams, the candidates cannot question the results of the test.

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show, Hassan Asare said the General Legal Council wants to limit the numbers for admission to the professional law course with this approach which is not fair.

“How do I go into an exam without knowing the marking scheme? Let’s say even if they are right, I can not seek for remarking, I can not seek for retallying. I can not know the past mark, and I must accept without questioning all these things.”

“I mean this is not an exam, in fact, how do I know that the mark that you gave me is actually what I scored? I have said that it is an unfair process and it is a set up to unjustly deny students.”

“It led itself to abuse, now in the end if I go and sit on this exams and you decide to give me 37, even though you wanted to write 73. How do I come back to say change it? Because I would have locked myself by signing that document, that says I have set without questioning this is not an exam.”

” I feel it is a way to as it has always been, micro-manage the numbers.”
