UCS launches community clean-up campaign under “Adopt a street” initiative
The campaign is aimed at fostering cleaner neighbourhoods and promoting public health through corporate-led volunteerism

UCS Facility Management, a subsidiary of the Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), has launched its first community volunteer clean-up exercise in Accra’s East Legon enclave, under the “Adopt a Street” campaign spearheaded by Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
The initiative, which took place on Tuesday (15 April) saw UCS staff and volunteers undertake weeding, sweeping, and painting along the American House-Bawaleshie Street and its adjoining intersections. The campaign is aimed at fostering cleaner neighbourhoods and promoting public health through corporate-led volunteerism.
Speaking to journalists, UCS Managing Director Yaa Dansua Ampofo described the effort as part of a broader commitment to environmental sustainability.
“Our role as a corporate entity goes beyond business performance. We are committed to contributing to a cleaner, greener Ghana,” she said.
The clean-up activity, which began at 7 a.m., was well-received by local residents. Several community members applauded the gesture and called for more organisations to support the “Adopt a Street” programme.
One resident, Nicholas, welcomed the initiative, describing environmental cleanliness as a shared duty. “It’s not just about government action—everyone must play their part,” he said, urging the public and private sector to rally behind the campaign.
The exercise is part of an ongoing strategy by the Jospong Group to use its subsidiaries to drive social impact through community-led environmental actions.
