Women in Mining GH holds maiden annual conference on 9 June

WIM GH will hold its maiden annual conference on the sidelines of the Ghana Chamber of Mines’ mining and energy summit

Women in Mining Ghana (WIM Ghana) will hold its first-ever Ghana annual conference on Friday 9 June 2023 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The objective of the conference is to bring together diverse industry stakeholders, and other leading figures in the mining sector.

This event offers a timely opportunity to celebrate women in the mining industry who have challenged the norms, broken barriers, and paved the way for future generations. It’s on the theme: “Future-fit responsible mining – the female factor.”

Organised with the objective of encouraging interactive discussions on a variety of subjects impacting females in the Mining Industry, this event aims to offer extensive networking opportunities as it will bring together a wide variety of Mining professionals, students and other players from different sectors of the economy.

About the conference

WIM GH have an exciting line-up of top local and internationally recognised professional women and men, who have achieved great success in their careers and will be sharing:

• Key insights into the role of gender diversity and inclusion in driving sustainable growth in the Mining sector.
• Valuable learnings on how to overcome obstacles and achieve success in your career.
• Examples of businesses who have achieved success, by empowering women and have worked to promote gender diversity and inclusion in their organisational strategies.

Indeed, as the theme suggests, this event is dedicated to knowledge-sharing and the dissemination of innovation to enhance the work of females in the Mining Industry. We intend for this maiden Annual Conference to bring into perspective the contribution of women in promoting responsible and sustainable mining practices at various levels in the Mining Industry.

Several experienced professionals have been invited to share their experiences and the event will be co-chaired by eminent females in the Mining Industry.

This event is being held on the final day of the Ghana Chamber of Mines’ Ghana Mining and Energy Summit 2023 which will ensure that key executives of the Mining Industry will be present. Participation is also expected from some sister Women in Mining Associations from the sub-region.

This event has been designed to call for increased efforts to promote women’s participation and leadership in the sector.

It is expected that through this event, WIM Ghana will add its voice to ensuring that mining operations are not only profitable but also socially and environmentally responsible even as we all seek sustainable solutions to challenges in promoting gender equality in the Mining Industry.
