Commonwealth Games: Mustapha Ussif wants an explanation for Ghana’s 4×100m relay team’s disqualification

The quartet after qualifying for the finals of the 4×100m relay got disqualified on technical grounds, this Mustapha Ussif wants more details as to why the team was denied the chance to run in the medal race

Ghana’s Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has asked for details from the Chef De Mission, the Ghana Athletics Association following the disqualification of the men’s 4×100m quartet from running in the medal race.

The team managed to secure a final ticket to be part of the finals of the 4×100m after running a time of 39.05s in the heats.

Moments after this, the team was notified of their disqualification which the Athletics Association in an apology statement described as ‘technical oversight.’

Despite the statement apologizing, Sports Minister Mustapha is not satisfied and is demanding a full report into what exactly happened.

“On the earlier faux pas [of] 4×100 final race disqualification, I’ve asked the International Games Committee and the Chef de Mission to provide an exclusive report to my office about that incident,” Ussif wrote on his Facebook page after extending a congratulatory message to the medal winners.

Ghana fielded Sean Safo-Antwi, Benjamin Azamati, Barnabas Aggerh and Sameenu, in that order.
