Popular Ghanaian broadcast journalist and Head of TV3’s Business Desk, Paa Kwesi Asare, has officially joined the Bank of Ghana, marking a major transition from media to public service.

The move brings to a close a journalism career that has spanned some of Ghana’s most respected media outlets and earned him international acclaim.

Paa Kwesi Asare, widely known for his articulate reporting of Ghana’s economic and financial environment, is expected to play a key role in the Bank of Ghana’s communications strategy, especially as the central bank continues to navigate economic recovery efforts and evolving monetary policies.

Paa Kwesi Asare’s journalism journey has taken him to Citi FM, Joy FM, and Starr FM, where he refined his craft, covering a range of business and financial topics with clarity and precision.

His move to TV3, one of Ghana’s leading television networks, marked a new height in his professional journey. As the Head of the Business Desk, Asare led a team of journalists in producing high-impact reports on Ghana’s economic developments, business climate, and financial markets.

In 2023, Paa Kwesi Asare made history as the first Ghanaian journalist to win the BBC Komla Dumor Award, a prestigious accolade established in memory of the late Ghanaian BBC presenter, Komla Dumor.

The award honours journalists with exceptional talent, integrity, and the ability to tell African stories with depth and authenticity.

Sources close to the central bank confirm that Asare has joined the Communications Department of the Bank of Ghana, where he is expected to contribute significantly to the institution’s public communications, stakeholder engagement, and financial education efforts.
