Chiefs and people of Tuobodom in the Techiman North Municipality of the Bono East Region have renewed urgent calls for authorities to beef up security in Tuobodom as residents decry a possible overnight attacks due to a long standing chieftaincy conflict bedeviling the area.
The chiefs and residents complain that, life is becoming scary and tough for them with economic activities being hit negatively by the effects of the protracted conflict there.
Nana Agyei Takyi Firi Beyeeman, Chief of Tuobodom expressed deep concerns when the Bono East Regional Minister paid a courtesy call on him.
“Peace they say is expensive. I will plead on you as the Regional Minister to collaborate with the necessary stakeholders to bring unmeasurable peace to Tuobodom.”
He pledged the unflinching commitment of the traditional council in abiding by any tenets that will bring peace and called on the government to step up efforts to tackle the recurring incident
“We promise that, we are ready to give maximum support to ensure peace is prevailed here” he added.
The chief reiterated, ” If an individual loses their life, several others get affected. When one person is killed in the family, a cruicial position in the family becomes void. This is why we ask you to intensify the security situation here.” Nana Takyi Firi noted.
Residents bemoan that, their sufferings further exacerbate through the growing threats of the recurring conflict.
A resident, expressed his ordeal to Asaase radio “the conflict situation here is becoming terrible. There is no peace in Tuobodom. We are always in a state of anxiety. Several businesses have closed and businessmen always fleeing the town for their live due to a the fear of a possible devastation. We call in the powers that be to prioritize our security.”
Several lives and property have been destroyed and economic activities receiving negative toll since the emergence of conflicts in Tuobodom. Reports of bloody disputes has also resurfaced in the area in recent times and calls for an effective collective action to address canker continues.
