The Division One League side confirmed the devastating news in an official statement on X (formerly Twitter), expressing deep sorrow over the loss of one of their most influential players.
“We are greatly saddened to announce the passing of our player, Habib Ganiu. All at the club send our heartfelt condolences to Habib’s family and friends in this difficult moment,” the statement read.
The tragic passing of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League-bound skipper was confirmed on Tuesday, 10 June 2025, marking a sombre day for the club and the wider Ghanaian football fraternity.
Habib Ganiu played a pivotal role in Vision FC’s historic promotion to the Ghana Premier League, captaining the side to top-flight qualification for the first time in the club’s history. His leadership, passion, and resilience on the field earned him admiration across the local football landscape.
While the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, an outpouring of tributes has since flooded social media, with fans, clubs, and teammates paying homage to his legacy.
