Tokyo Olympics: Samuel Takyi advances to quarter-finals spot in boxing

Takyi becomes the second Ghanaian boxer to advance to the next round after the Black Bombers captain, Sulemanu Tetteh, qualified to the Round 4 stage two days ago

Ghana’s Samuel Takyi secured progress to the quarter-finals of the men’s 52-57 kilogram featherweight boxing on Wednesday morning.

Takyi, 20, dominated his opponent throughout the five rounds of the bout to leave no doubt in the mind of the judges to declare him the unanimous winner.

His opponent, Juan Carlos Caicedo Pachito of Ecuador, came back stronger in the second round of the fight and managed to score 4/5 from the judges.
