Tia Ibrahim calls for divine peace intervention as Bawku conflict spills into North East Region

North East regional minister, Tia Ibrahim has urged all stakeholders—including pastors, Imams, traditional leaders, and Tindanas—to join the call for divine intervention to restore calm in the region

The North East Regional Minister, Tia Ibrahim, has called on religious leaders across the region to intensify prayers for peace, as the protracted conflict in Bawku continues to spill over into neighbouring communities.

Speaking during the confirmation of Mohammed Rabiu Jabaah as Municipal Chief Executive for the West Mamprusi Municipal Assembly, Ibrahim warned that the ripple effects of the Bawku conflict, particularly along the N10 route, are fuelling reprisal attacks in parts of the North East Region.

“We know what is happening in the Upper East, and as a result, the repercussions are flowing into our region. We are praying to the Almighty for peace to reign in the Upper East, so that peace will also reign in the North East. This is a noble request for all of us,” he said.

He urged all stakeholders—including pastors, Imams, traditional leaders, and Tindanas—to join the call for divine intervention to restore calm in the region.

“I know the challenges and the turbulence our region is facing. I want our revered pastors, chiefs, Imams, and Tindanas to pray for divine peace. Without peace, we cannot develop,” he added.

He emphasised that peace remains a prerequisite for development and economic stability, especially for businesses that rely on a safe and predictable environment to thrive.

“It is not good to be spoken about for the wrong reasons. When we attain peace, then we can ride on the development agenda we all want. Every Friday, I ask the Chief Imam to include it in his prayers. Every Sunday, I ask pastors and the people who fellowship with us to pray as well,” he said.

The regional minister also appealed to the youth to uphold the law and refrain from taking justice into their own hands, warning that lawlessness only deepens the region’s challenges.
