Two police officers and a man believed to be in his 50s have died following a fatal road crash at Adanwomase in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region.
The accident occurred on Wednesday (9 July) and involved a bullion van with registration number AS 19 43-24 and a KIA truck bearing registration number AS 51 42-24.
Eyewitnesses say the KIA and a Toyota vehicle were allegedly engaged in a high-speed race along the stretch when the Bullion van, also reportedly speeding, approached from the opposite direction.
A failure to slow down from either party resulted in a head-on collision.
Emergency services responded to the scene, but the four victims—two of whom were confirmed to be police personnel—were pronounced dead.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
