Ghana has deported three Israeli nationals in response to the ill-treatment and deportation of three of its citizens by Israeli authorities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced.
The action was taken on Wednesday (10 December), after the Israeli authorities reportedly detained and removed the Ghanaians without justification.
In response, Ghana summoned the Chargé d’Affaires ad Interim of the Israeli Embassy, as the Israeli Ambassador is currently out of the country.
Both governments have agreed to seek an amicable resolution to the incident. Ghana’s Foreign Ministry said the move underscores the country’s commitment to protecting the dignity of its citizens while maintaining respectful diplomatic relations.
“The Government of Ghana will continue to safeguard the dignity of its nationals and also that of other nationals,” the Ministry said in a statement.
It added that Ghana values relations with friendly countries and expects its citizens to be treated with the same respect accorded to foreign nationals within its borders.
