The 2021 Mid-Year Budget Review is expected to be unveiled in Parliament on Thursday (29 July 2021)

The government is expected to outline plans to address the growing concerns of unemployment in the country as the Finance Minister presents the Mid-Year Budget Review on Thursday (29 July).

The Budget Review will focus on the government’s plans to create about one million jobs for the youth.

It is also expected that Ken Ofori-Atta will spell out the rollout plans for the government’s GHC100 billion Ghana CARES/“Obaatanpa” programme.

The Mid-Year Budget Review will also spell out plans for Agenda 111, which aims to expand on district-level construction of hospitals.

No new taxes

A source at the Finance Ministry has also confirmed to www.asaaseradio.com that the government will not be introducing any new taxes in the Mid-Year Budget Review.

The Budget Review will also outline the government’s intentions to be aggressive on revenue mobilisation.

It is also expected to look at other innovative ways to create the needed fiscal space for the operationalisation of the government’s planned programmes and activities for the year.

GDP growth rate

The government is also expected to revise the overall real GDP growth rate marginally upwards to 5.1% in 2021, against the 5.0% originally projected in the 2021 Budget.

Similarly, non-oil GDP for 2021 growth is also expected to be revised to 7.0%, up from the 6.7% in the 2021 Budget.
