Black Starlets begin UEFA U-16 development tournament in Russia

Ghana will be aiming to replicate their success in a similar UEFA development tournament held in Serbia last year, where they emerged victorious

Ghana’s U-17 national team, the Black Starlets, are set to kick off their campaign at the UEFA U-16 four-nation tournament in Volgograd, Russia, on Wednesday (24 April).

The competition serves as a vital warm-up for the upcoming WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship, set to be hosted by Ghana on 15 May.

The Black Starlets, led by head coach Laryea Kingston, will face off against host nation Russia, Serbia and Kazakhstan in a round-robin format, with all matches concluding by 29 April.

This tournament provides a valuable platform for the young Ghanaian talents to showcase their skills, build team cohesion, and gain crucial competitive experience before the WAFU B Championship.

Head Coach Laryea Kingston departed Ghana with his squad on Sunday (21 April) and held their first training session in Russia on Tuesday (23 April).

The Black Starlets will be aiming to replicate their success in a similar UEFA development tournament held in Serbia last year, where they emerged victorious.
