The Schoolys honour Nii Kojo Ababio teachers

The Schoolys, a support initiative dedicated to empowering school staff, teamed up with Kate Lynn and Adwoa (KLA) Travels to celebrate the hard work of 35 teachers at the Nii Kojo Ababio Basic School in Accra.

The teachers were showered with gifts, including laptops, wellness hampers, cash, and gift cards worth over GHC4,000—a gesture aimed at recognising their dedication and commitment.

The initiative, driven by The Schoolys’ mission to uplift educational staff, provides resources such as self-care grants, school facility improvements, curriculum support, and long-term funding opportunities.

By doing so, the platform aims to empower educators who play an indispensable role in shaping the next generation.

Davida Selby, the Chief Executive of KLA Travels and a key facilitator of the event, emphasised the importance of nurturing teachers’ well-being.

“We wanted to make sure we hit them in every angle,” she said. “They have a chance to finally be selfish and take care of themselves for once.”

Ghanaian actor Mawuli Gavor, who was also present, urged Africans in the diaspora to use their resources to drive meaningful change.

“It’s supposed to be something that the community works together and that’s what we have to review. Obviously, in Africa, we haven’t got no money but to stimulate it by itself.” Gavor noted.

“So whenever you have programmes and initiatives, you can use the media to collect or try to stimulate the African community and make our homes better.”
