Odartey Lamptey wins back East Legon mansion from ex-wife

The Accra High Court ruled that the former footballer can now takeover the East Legon mansion from his ex-wife after their divorce

The Accra High Court has ruled that former Ghana international Nii Odartey Lamptey can take possession of his East Legon mansion from his ex-wife.

Lamptey has been renting since 2014 after his wife Gloria Lamptey sued to claim the house following their divorce.

Following the divorce, Lamptey parted away with his five-bedroom house at Dome plus a sum of GHC 400,000  as alimony to the ex-wife, but Gloria Lamptey insisted she wanted the East Legon mansion instead.

I regret not prioritising education

In an earlier interview with Asaase News on varied topics, Lamptey said one thing he regrets in his life was not prioritising education in addition to his football career.

He said: “I regret 100% for not taking my education seriously because that’s the best thing anyone can give to the child. So, that’s why I decided to come back to Ghana to set up the school for others to benefit from.

“I thank God I had some money while playing football but I had a good educational background I would’ve had triple what I got.”

Odartey Lamptey was speaking with Kent Mensah on Sunday Night on Asaase Radio.

He added: “I will not blame my parents; they were pushing me to go to school but I never did. But I’m extremely happy I chose football as a career.”

“Education is key”

Odartey has, however, advised young footballers to take their education very serious as they continue to play football.

“They shouldn’t play with their education; that’s key. They should also be respectful and be disciplined in all their dealings.”
