West Mamprusi: NGO organises football matches between two communities to promote peace

The event forms part of activities undertaken by Peace for Life Ghana under the Security in Northern Ghana Project (SING)

Peace for Life Ghana, an indigenous non-governmental organization based in West Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region has organised a football match between Kukua and Loagri communities in the municipality to promote peaceful co-existence in the neighborhood.

The event forms part of activities undertaken by Peace for Life Ghana under the Security in Northern Ghana Project (SING) being supported by STAR-Ghana Foundation with funding from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

The match was organized at Loagri on Saturday (16 December 2023) where both teams ended up scoring two goals each.

The executive director for Peace for Life Ghana, Mutawakil Alhassan speaking during the match between the two communities has urged the youth to use the football match as a symbol of unity among them for development to strive.

“We gathered here not just to play football but also to celebrate the spirit of unity, friendship, and peaceful co-existence. It forms part of a series of activities that are being undertaken under the security in Northern Ghana Project sponsored by Star-Ghana Foundation with funding from the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office,” Mutawakil said.

“He added “The goal of this project is to promote peaceful co-existence among communities within the West Mamprusi Municipal. Use this opportunity not just to enjoy a game, but to promote values that can shape a positive and peaceful society. Let today’s match be a symbol of unity and peace between Kukua and Loagri,” he admonished.
