Teenager Gilbert Ampiah wins bronze medal at Marrakech Grand Prix
WWith an impressive jump of 1.73 meters, Gilbert secured his first international medal—a remarkable testament to his dedication, hard work, and perseverance.
Gilbert Ampiah, a 16-year-old para-athlete from St. Augustine’s College, has clinched a bronze medal in the High Jump T44 category at the prestigious Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan International Para Athletics Meeting in Marrakech, Morocco.
With an impressive jump of 1.73 meters, Gilbert secured his first international medal—a remarkable testament to his dedication, hard work, and perseverance.
Some of Gilbert’s notable achievements include Personal Bests of 1.60m, he cleared at Ekumfi Atwa in 2023, triumphing over able-bodied athletes.
A 1.82m he set during St. Augustine’s inter-house competition. 1.86m he jumped at a recent competitive event, marking his current personal best.
Gilbert underwent official classification from April 21 to 23, an essential step for formal recognition within para-athletics competition standards.
Gilbert’s relentless spirit and exceptional talent have made him a shining beacon of hope and inspiration for many Ghanaians.
This achievement not only highlights Gilbert’s incredible potential but also underscores Ghana’s growing presence in the international para-athletics scene.
The Marrakech competition also serves as a qualifier for the upcoming Commonwealth and Paralympic Games, providing Gilbert with a broader platform to showcase his ever-rising talent.
