Elephant kills farmer in North East Region

Fuseini Mbieni, 42, reportedly attempted to ward off three elephants around his farm and in the process one killed him

A man has been killed by a stray elephant on his farm in Nambotre near Gbintiri in the Gambaga District of the North East Region, the police have confirmed.

Fuseini Mbieni, 42, reportedly attempted to ward off three elephants around his farm and in the process one attacked him with its trunk and killed him on the spot.

Unconfirmed reports have it that another person was killed by the elephants before the community members managed to overpower one of the animals.

Officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and police personnel are in Gbintiri to protect lives and properties.
