Team Ghana set for pre-Paris training camp in Strasbourg

The 2024 Paris Olympics will start from Friday (26 July) to Sunday (11 August)

Ghana’s athletes heading to the 2024 Paris Olympics will embark on a two-week intensive training camp in Strasbourg, France, this Sunday (7 July), the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has confirmed.

The team, featuring high jumper Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah, swimmers Harry Stacey (men’s 100m freestyle) and Joselle Mensah (women’s 50m freestyle), sprinters Abdul-Rasheed Saminu (men’s 100m and 200m) and Benjamin Azamati (men’s 100m) and the men’s 4x100m relay team (Benjamin Azamati, Isaac Botsio, Joseph Paul Amoah, Fuseini Ibrahim, and Edwin Gadayi), will travel by train to the Paris Games Village on Monday (22 July).

The GOC also disclosed a pre-Games budget of €35,000 (excluding flights and athlete allowances), currently awaiting approval from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS).

They highlighted the support received from the French Embassy in Ghana and a pre-Games subsidy from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to facilitate the training camp and acclimatisation.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will take place from Friday (26 July) to Sunday (11 August).
