Forbes announced singer, Taylor Swift, as the richest female musician with a net equity of $1.6 billion, entering the league of plutocrats as the richest female musician on Monday, 7 October 2024.
Forbes attributes the wealth of the 34-year-old sensational singer, solely on the value of her music catalog, performances, and her sold-out Eras tour, making her the first female billionaire.
Her music compendium is worth an additional US$600 million, with $600 million from royalties and touring, and her real estate holdings of US$125 million making up her wealth.
Taylor Swift now holds the 2,117 spot on the Forbes list of the world’s billionaires. She has now exceeded some female musicians such as Madonna at US$850 million, Beyoncé at US$760 million, Celine Dion at S$550 million, and Rihanna at US$1.4 billion.
Rihanna, who was previously ranked as the world’s second richest female musician on the latest Forbes list at 2,336, has now lost her title. At the time she served in the role, her total wealth reached its highest point at US$1.7 billion which is now at US$1.4 billion. The success was largely attributed to her Fenty Beauty line and Savage x Fenty lingerie.
According to Swift’s wealth, she is now considered the second wealthiest musician globally, just behind Jay-Z, who has a net worth of approximately US$2.5 billion.
Swift started releasing re-records of her initial six albums in 2021 to reclaim ownership of them.
Ticket sales for her Eras Tour in the United States were so high that Ticketmaster was overwhelmed, leading members of Congress to inquire about the company’s hold in the concert ticket market.
