Tariq Lamptey likely to leave Brighton as contract nears expiry

Currently sidelined with a knee injury sustained in Brighton’s recent clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Lamptey will also miss the team’s final Premier League fixture of the season

Ghana international Tariq Lamptey is set to become a free agent on 30 June 2025, following the expiry of his contract with Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 24-year-old full-back, who joined the Seagulls from Chelsea in 2020, quickly cemented his place as a key figure under former manager Roberto De Zerbi.

However, with no contract extension in sight, Lamptey is now expected to depart the club after five years of service.

Currently sidelined with a knee injury sustained in Brighton’s recent clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Lamptey will also miss the team’s final Premier League fixture of the season against Tottenham Hotspur.

The injury brings an early end to a season that saw the pacey defender make fifteen league appearances, in which he scored two goals and provided two assists. Across all competitions, he featured twenty times, contributing to five goals for the south coast club.

Unless fresh terms are agreed, Tariq Lamptey will be on the lookout for a new club ahead of the 2025/2026 season, as his current deal officially concludes at the end of June.
