NHIA CEO Lydia Dsane-Selby tests positive for COVID-19

The chief executive officer of the National Health Insurance Authority has tested positive for the coronavirus disease

The chief executive officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr Lydia Dsane-Selby, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The NHIA is yet to give further details of the development.

Dr Dsane-Selby announced the news in conversation with Caroline Sampson on Asaase Radio’s late-morning society show, Ten-To-One.

She becomes the fourth government appointee known to have tested positive for the virus after the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Papa Owusu Ankomah, and the Mayor of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Anthony K.K. Sam.

K.K. Sam, however, succumbed to the disease.

The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, had earlier disclosed that Agyeman Manu, who was receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) has been discharged and is receiving treatment at home.

“He [Agyeman Manu] told me is home. He is in good spirits,” Oppong Nkrumah said.

Papa Owusu Ankomah has also recovered from the disease.

As at Tuesday 16 June, Ghana had recorded 12,193 cases of the disease, 4,326 recoveries and 58 deaths.
