Yagaba: Two killed over New Year celebration

The police are investigating the death of two persons in Yagaba in the Mamprugu Moaduri District of the North East Region on New Year's day celebration

Two persons have been beaten to death in Yagaba in the Mamprugu Moaduri District of the North East Region on New Year‘s day celebration.

One of the deceased, Yidana Jamal, 35, was stabbed by an unidentified person at a get-together party in the Mamprugu Moaduri District capital, Yagaba on Saturday night after confusion ensued.

It is reported that Jamal was stabbed to death in his quest to rescue his brother who was being beaten by some irate youth after he invaded the crowd and destroyed their food with his motorbike.

It took some time before people around realised that Jamal had been stabbed. He was later rushed to the Yagaba health center and pronounced dead.

The residents of Yagaba took the pain of his death and blocked the Yagaba-Kubori road to retaliate after they suspected that the stabbing was done by the Kubori Youth, eyewitnesses told Asaase News.

The police said the irate youth lynched a young man they suspect to be the killer of Jamal. The case is still under investigation.
