Trigmatic, Nana Asaase perform at Night of Folklore

Night of Folklore comes off on Saturday (9 January) from 7pm till 10pm at the Accra Mall, Food Court featuring Nana Asaase and others

The National Folklore Board in collaboration with ‘Beyond the Return’ is organising a folklore event dubbed, ‘Night of Folklore.’

The event comes off on Saturday (9 January) from 7pm till 10pm at the Accra Mall, Food Court.

The acting Director of National Folklore Board, Nana Adjoa Adobea Asante, said this on Asaase Radio’s ‘Between Hours’, explaining “the event is free for all, you come, you volunteer and then you take part.”

Performances for the night

“It’s a night in which we are showing that our folklore goes beyond the usual drumming and dancing that we all think it epitomizes… We’re going to show, that you can have fun with your traditional folklore and still do it tastefully,” the acting director said.

According to her, it will be “a night of folkloric performances so we have storytelling, we have dance and we have music from the likes of Trigmatic, Aka Blay, the Buoyant Band.”

There will also be performances from the Royal Priesthood Chorale, Village Minds Production, Ancient and spoken word artist Nana Asaase. The flute lovers will not be left out. Dela Botri who plays the flute with his nostrils will be there to entertain the audience.
