Female artists don’t get enough airplay, says MzVee

MzVee says radio DJs don't play enough songs from the female musical talents we have in Ghana

Award-winning Ghanaian musician MzVee has said that female artists in Ghana do not get enough airplay on radio as compared to their male counterparts.

“Support females in the music industry,” the Daavi hitmaker told Barry Musah on the Asaase Café show on Thursday (21 September). “We are not many.”

According to her, “we don’t get enough airplay. Again, this is my opinion, everyone is entitled to their opinion.”

MzVee called on on-air personalities to ensure balance and promote more songs of female personalities.

“When I listen to the radio, I mean they play female songs, but I mean 95% of the time it’s all about the men, and the small percentage is for the women.

“We need to be more intentional about supporting and promoting women,” MzVee added.
